Why sharing a house is like being a character in Game of Thrones

When you share a house, you win or you die.

Fans of Game of Thrones will know just how dramatic an average episode is. It’s full of fantastic characters and you never know exactly what’s going to happen.

In that sense, it’s a bit like sharing a house with other people. Here’s why living in a house share can leave you feeling a bit like a character in Game of Thrones.

1. The politics

Westeros has nothing on the average house share in terms of politics, power struggles and delicate truces. Use someone else’s fridge shelf and the carnage that follows can make the Red Wedding look like a quiet night in.

2. There’s one seat that everyone wants

Just like the Iron Throne, there’s normally one good seat in every house that everyone wants to sit in. Claim it for the evening and you feel like a king.

3. There’s no room for honour

Bad things happen to good people in Game of Thrones. Still, it’s no worse than discovering that your housemates have nicked your beers or ate your food.

4. There’s a pecking order

Every shared house has a hierarchy that’s constantly shifting. You’re either a spoke on the wheel or you’re getting crushed beneath it.

5. Good guys finish last

You’ll get no thanks for cleaning the kitchen, taking out the bins or covering the electricity bill because someone doesn’t have the money. And then people wonder why you’re in a bad mood.

6. There’s usually a Littlefinger in there

You know the one. They’re the housemate that’s constantly stirring things up, having a little bitch or trying to play you off against each other.

7. Anything can happen

One minute, everything is going swimmingly. The next moment, two people have gone to war and everyone else is just trying to survive the fallout.

8. There’s generally one person that nobody likes

There’s usually a Joffrey in every house that all the other tenants hate. If you don’t know who the Joffrey is, it’s probably you.

9. Crazy friends/family come as part of the package

Even the soundest housemate can have a crazy girlfriend/friend/family member that you’ll have to tolerate. It’s like moving in with Jaime Lannister and then finding out that Cersei’s going to be constantly staying over.

The Pinergy App makes it easier to pay your electricity bill, by allowing everyone to make their own payments. It also shows who has and hasn’t paid. So, just like the Lannisters, your housemates will always have to pay their debts.

Understand and reduce your energy consumption, waste and cost through Pinergy’s smart technologies. Pinergy takes the stress out of sharing bills. With the Pinergy In Home Display and Smart App, you can see how much energy you are using and multiple users can pay into the one account.

That helps to eliminate arguments over bills. Check out the website for more.
