Netflix, an all-star cast and the makers of Shrek and How To Train Your Dragon are teaming up to make this dream come true.
We are trying to remain calm. Trying, and failing.
Running for just one year, from 1985 to 1986, but somehow still managing to knock out 93 episodes (that is some incredible work ethic), She-Ra was a hugely successful spin-off series, revolving around the heroics of the alter ego of Princess Adora, the twin sister of Prince Adam aka He-Man.
To be fair, while He-Man himself is probably even more well-known, he didn’t do much better before being cancelled, also just running from two seasons, from 1983 to 1985.
Even the opening credits are enough to give us goosebumps:

Here we are, over 30 years later, and while He-Man has been left to gather dust (far be it for us to judge, there’s really only so much you can do to modernise a big muscle-bound dude who wears nothing but small patches of leather bondage), the same can’t be said for She-Ra, as Netflix announced on Friday that they’ll be showing the newly commissioned reboot.
The new show, She-Ra And The Princesses Of Power, is being brought to the small screen by Dreamworks, the same folks who gave us Shrek, The Boss Baby, How To Train Your Dragon, Megamind, Kung Fu Panda, and Over The Hedge, so they clearly know their way around quality animation.
On top of the that, the all-star cast has been announced, and it includes Aimee Carrero (Young & Hungry) as Adora/She-Ra, Jordan Fisher (Dancing With The Stars) as Seahawk, Marcus Scribner (black-ish) as Bow, as well as Lorraine Toussaint (Orange Is The New Black) as Shadow Weaver.
Then there’s also Sandra Oh (Grey’s Anatomy) as Castaspella, Karen Fukuhara (Suicide Squad) as Glimmer, AJ Michalka (The Goldbergs) as Catra, Reshma Shetty (Royal Pains) as Angella, Keston John (The Good Place) as Hordak, Lauren Ash (Superstore) as Scorpia, Christine Woods (Hello Ladies) as Entrapta, Genesis Rodriguez (Time After Time) as Perfuma, and Vella Lovell (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend) as Mermista.
Entertainment Weekly got their hands on the first teaser poster, and it is enough to drive us into a giddy frenzy.
