The Snapper is nearly 25 years old, but such is its lasting appeal that it is always guaranteed a receptive audience any time it is shown on terrestrial TV in Ireland. And, to be fair, it’s been given quite a few airings down the years, particularly at Christmas time. RTÉ decided to put it out as their midweek movie on Wednesday night a few months back and with the weather ensuring that there was plenty of people indoors, it went down a treat. Perhaps not surprisingly, #TheSnapper was trending on Twitter as viewers took their cue to once again express their appreciation for an Irish classic and revisit some of the many memorable quotes.
