The Snapper returns to the Dublin stage and it’s a fantastic watch for anyone that loves the film

Snip, snip.

You’ve probably seen it 100 times. You definitely know every word. You know that the baby weighs exactly 7 pounds 12 ounces.

However, whenever The Snapper is on TV, you’re not changing the channel. Now that’s the sign of a cult classic.

We all know the story of 20-year-old Sharon Curley but if you’re interested in reliving it in a completely different way, you’ll be delighted to know that The Snapper is returning to Dublin’s Gate Theatre.

After the first run of the production earned some very impressive reviews  – we felt that the play was a love letter to Dublin and all of its idiosyncrasies – we’re delighted to say that the show is back and it’s first production takes place tonight.

At present, the play is scheduled to go on until 24 August with tickets starting at €15, although that can change depending on where you would like to sit.

This being said, wherever you’re sitting, that’s not a bad price…you might even have some money left over for sweets (that line from Georgie Burgess will always be weird!)

The first night (8 June) is sold out but there are plenty of tickets for the other showings.

Kay Curley might think that it’s a terrible shock being married for 25 years and finding out your husband’s a prick, however the return of The Snapper is a very welcome surprise for anyone that loves the film.

If you’re ready to feel old, the book was published in 1991 which means that Georgina would be 28. To quote Dessie, Jaysus!

Anyway, if you’re interested in heading along, ticketing information can be found here.
