It seems that the first plot details about A Quiet Place 2 have been revealed

Paul Moore

A Quiet Place 2

The brilliant Cillian Murphy is starring in this one.

As soon as the sequel for A Quiet Place was announced, it’s understandable that film fans had a certain degree of trepidation because the original film is not just a fantastic horror, it’s a fantastic film. Period.

Not only was it thrilling and tense, John Krasinski pulled an ace out of his sleeve because it featured incredible performances and in terms of a cinematic experience, it was second to none.

Simply put, A Quiet Place was one of those films that you just had to see and experience in a cinema because everything was, well, it was so quiet (d’uh!).

After it became a box-office hit, the inevitable sequel was approved and while we had our reservations, the casting of Cillian Murphy has certainly piqued our interest, because the Peaky Blinders star is extremely careful about the roles he chooses.

There must be some substance to the script if Murphy is attached because he’s one of those actors that instantly commands respect.

In an interview with Observer, his fellow cast member on A Quiet Place 2, Brian Tyree Henry, discussed a few key ideas that will be explored in the sequel.

“I’m still trying to find that out, but I really think that what we’ll do is we’ll see more of that family continuing to survive and finding out that they’re not the only ones,” he said.

“And I think that we’re also going to get a few answers to the origin of where and how this whole thing happened. I think that people want to know that.

“But I think you’re just going to see another side of it…more of humanity that survived this thing in this next story.”

If you can remember the first film, it featured a memorable opening scene when the Abbott family (lead by real-life husband and wife John Krasinski and Emily Blunt) saw one of their children snatched and killed by these mysterious creatures.

There was no prologue, explanation, or answer as to why the creatures were there.

They just were.

We didn’t learn how this apocalypse came about, so there’s massive potential to expand on that particular aspect of the story.

As for the rest of the cast, Emily Blunt is returning and she’ll be joined by the film’s original young stars, Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe.

A Quiet Place 2 is set for release on 20 March, 2020.

Surely the name has to be A Quieter Place, no?
