TRAILER: Season 2 of Sunderland ‘Til I Die looks a great watch for everyone but Sunderland fans

Rudi Kinsella

Sunderland til I die

Season 1 was a massive success.

It seems an eternity since Season 1 of Sunderland ‘Til I Die was released on Netflix, and football fans everywhere binged it in a matter of days.

It told the story of Sunderland’s first season in the Championship in 10 years, and it was supposed to follow their journey back to the Premier League.

Instead, they got relegated again.

The drama was immense. You had Darron Gibson being caught drunk and bad mouthing his teammates, you had Chris Coleman nearly coming to blows with a disgruntled fan and two managers being sacked in the space of six months.

And that’s not even mentioning David Brent himself, then-CEO of the club, Martin Bain.

Naturally, a second season was ordered.

This time it seemed a formality that Sunderland would get promoted given the stature of the club, but once again they failed, losing to Charlton in the League One play-off final.

Sunderland fans might not be looking forward to reliving further heartbreak, but football fans in general will be buzzing for its release.

Take a look at the trailer here:

Season 2 of Sunderland ‘Til I Die will stream on Netflix from 1 April.
