Coming to the service NOW, Devil in Silver is the latest stand-alone entry for The Terror, a supernatural anthology show. It's the follow-up to 2018's acclaimed 19th-century Arctic-set The Terror and its 2019 WWII-set follow-up The Terror: Infamy.
Based on a novel by Victor LaValle, the six-part Devil in Silver breaks tradition for the anthology, eschewing a historical backdrop in favour of a modern-day setting.
As Pepper gets to know the fellow patients (including Chinaza Uche and Judith Light), hoping to plan an escape, he starts to suspect that a supernatural evil is lurking within New Hyde, one that thrives on its patients' pain.
JOE has seen the first two episodes of Devil in Silver, and we can't wait to watch more.
While by its design, the story lacks the epic sweep of The Terror's first season - which we believe is a masterpiece - there is lots to like in the new series.
The always reliable Dan Stevens brings great humour, magnetism, and pathos to the character of Pepper, crafting a protagonist that's hugely sympathetic despite his flaws.
Cult horror director Karyn Kusama (Jennifer's Body, The Invitation), meanwhile, helmed the first two episodes of Devil in Silver. She helps make the dingy, rat-infested corridors of New Hyde feel almost akin to a gothic maze or prison.
Kusama's approach to the filmmaking really suits the material. Devil in Silver is a genre show with a lot on its mind, drawing links between the supernatural 'devil' of its title and the real-world horrors of a failing health system and institutional abuse.
Released in the United States last May, Devil in Silver will finally be available to stream in its entirety in the UK and Ireland on the service NOW from Sunday, 23 August.
Also being added to NOW on the same date are the first two seasons of The Terror.

Dan Stevens (Abigail, The Guest, Zero Day) stars as Pepper, a moving man and music lover from Queens, New York, who gets into a violent altercation with the abusive ex of his girlfriend, Marisol (Juani Feliz). When plainclothes police officers attempt to break up the fight, Pepper accidentally assaults them, leading to his arrest.
Instead of taking him to a police station, the three cops (played by Marin Ireland, Michael Aronov, and Philip Ettinger) admit him to New Hyde, a rundown psychiatric hospital. Initially admitted for a three-day psychiatric hold, he is heavily sedated by the cruel staff (which includes Aasif Mandvi, CCH Pounder, and Stephen Root) and subsequently misses his release window, becoming trapped in the system.
