This handy Internet tool is a godsend for Star Wars fans who want to avoid spoilers today

Today, December 16, represents a purgatory of sorts for millions of Star Wars fans around the world. The first public screenings of Star Wars: The Force Awakens don’t take place until just after midnight tonight, but the embargo on reviews of the movie by those fortunate enough to have seen it already was lifted this morning. As a result, Star Wars fans worldwide are studiously avoiding the Internet for fear of uncovering even the most minor of details that might spoil their experience of a movie that's enjoying rave reviews to date. If you use Google Chrome as your Internet browser, however, you needn’t worry about a thing because there’s a special extension called Force Block that will warn you if you’re about to access a page with potential spoilers. The extension’s blurb says that in addition to its standard pattern matching logic which requires a critical mass of related keywords to initiate a block, they've added a handful of instant-blocking keyphrases, sourced from people who have seen the film via early screenings. Sure, that sounds so easy we could have done it ourselves! You can also customise the extension to allow access to certain pages you know won’t include spoilers, although Star Wars fans are being so careful today that we don’t know if they’d be willing to take that risk.
