#TRAILERCHEST: The first trailer for the remake of Flatliners is here to stop your heart dead

Rory Cashin

You haven’t really lived until you’ve died…

Welcome to #TrailerChest, where we’re taking a sneak peek at the brand new trailer for Flatliners.

Plot’s it all about?

The original 1990 version featured Julia Roberts, William Baldwin, Kevin Bacon and Kiefer Sutherland, and the 2017 remake/reboot/requel (that last one really is, unfortunately, a word) has pretty much the exact same plot, with a group of medical students experimenting with “life after death”, purposefully stopping their own hearts and seeing the hereafter.

What initially pumps them all up into living in the moment eventually comes with a dark side (because of course it does), when they get addicted to going under for longer and longer, and start to bring back an evil presence with them.

Oddly enough, Kiefer Sutherland is also in this version of the movie, apparently playing the same character from the original movie, having told Metro that “I play a professor at the medical university. It is never stated, but it will probably be very clearly understood that I’m the same character I was in the original Flatliners, but that I have changed my name and I’ve done some things to move on from the experiments that we were doing in the original film.”

Anyways, the trailer looks like the film will be plenty scary, and the impressive cast should make sure this isn’t just another remake-for-the-money.

Starring: Ellen Page, Diego Luna, Nina Dobrev, James Norton, Kiersey Clemons, Kiefer Sutherland.

Directed by: Niels Arden Oplev (the original, Swedish version of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo)

Irish release date: 29 September

Enjoy…
