A producer on the Transformers movies has spoken about the chances of filming a future installment of the franchise in Ireland.
Lorenzo di Bonaventura, who has produced all seven Transformers films to date, made the comments to JOE when we spoke to him about the latest entry in the series - Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.
In cinemas now and set in the '90s, it stars Anthony Ramos (Hamilton, In the Heights) and Dominique Fishback (Judas and the Black Messiah, Swarm) as humans who find themselves caught up in a war between rival Transformers. Part of the latter includes the Maximals, robots who can take on the form of Earth's animals.
Ahead of the blockbuster's release, JOE's entertainment editor Rory Cashin had the chance to speak to Ramos and Fishback, their co-star Tobe Nwigwe (Mo), the movie's director Steven Caple Jr. (Creed II) and di Bonaventura.

During his interview with the latter, Rory made a heartfelt plea on behalf of Ireland for the franchise to come to the Emerald Isle in the future (and blow large parts of it up).
And much to JOE's delight, di Bonaventura was open to the idea, stating:
"That is part of the fun of working on a franchise like this. You do get to be a youngin, a little kid, like: 'What can we blow up? What can we do?'
"We like to go to different places so Ireland's definitely on our list."
However, the producer added that where the Transformers movies are set has a lot to do with whatever story the makers of the films come up with.
"On this movie, because we wanted to introduce the Maximals, we needed to go to a jungle because they can't hide in an urban environment," he explained.
"So, it actually drove the story a bit in that direction. We don't even know ourselves where it's going to drive us."
