My Lovely Horse

“We have to lose that sax solo.”

Sometimes it’s not until you see a friend or neighbour perform at a local fundraiser that you become aware of their previously hidden talents.

We’re sure that’s the case for many in the town of Carrickmore in Tyrone, who will have marvelled at the sight of talented duo Paddy Phillips and Anthony Marley recreating the famous ‘My Lovely Horse’ music video from Father Ted for a local fundraiser coming up in October.

Paddy and Anthony starred in the video to promote a show called Father Ted and the Holy Ghost Stage Show, which is coming to Carrickmore in October to raise money for the local parish hall development fund.

Although the jackets are a different colour to Ted and Dougal in the video, almost everything else is flawlessly recreated, from showering the horse with sugar lumps, Ted’s little wink and the game of beach ball with two local ladies.

They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and why attempt to deviate from an all-time classic when it’s so good in the first place?

Take a look at Paddy and Anthony’s recreation above and the original clip below to see how alike they really are; needless to say this will go down a storm if the two lads give it another whirl at the event in October.
