Including a new Lord of the Rings movie, a Leo DiCaprio comic book movie, and remakes of two of the most popular movies from the 90s.

Warner Bros reportedly released its proposed slate of live-action movies set to arrive in 2023, 2024 and beyond, and movie fans will likely get excited as there a number of high-profile sequels and remakes among the list.

In a document that was leaked on Reddit before being shared widely on social media, the line-up includes some very attention grabbing projects. But remember to take all of this with a grain of salt, as it currently remains unconfirmed how much of this is accurate.

Additionally, while some of these release dates may change over time, and others still may not be getting a Warner Bros release in certain parts of the world, here is their slate as currently announced:

2023:

  • Magic Mike’s Last Dance – Feb 10
  • Shazam! Fury of the Gods – Mar 17
  • Evil Dead Rise – April 21
  • The Flash – June 23
  • Barbie – July 21
  • The Meg 2: The Trench – Aug 4
  • Blue Beetle – Aug 18
  • The Nun II – Sept 8
  • Dune Part Two – Nov 3
  • Wonka – Dec 15
  • The Color Purple – Dec 20
  • Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom – Dec 29
  • Salem’s Lot – TBD

2024:

  • Toto: The Dog-Gone Amazing Story of the Wizard of Oz – Feb 2
  • Godzilla and Kong – Mar 15
  • Mickey 17 – Mar 29
  • The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim – April 12
  • Mad Max: Furiosa – May 24
  • Joker 2: Folie à Deux – Oct 4
  • The Conjuring 4 – TBD
  • Ocean’s 11 – TBD

However, it is the following list of live-action releases, which range from new properties, new adaptations, sequels and remakes, which will probably get the most attention. None of these have been given a specific release date as of yet, and are all under the “in development” section of the reputed WB upcoming slate:

  • Superman
  • Ben 10
  • The Batman 2
  • Them!
  • Captain Planet
  • The Bodyguard
  • Under Siege
  • The Last Train to New York
  • Crazy Rich Asians 2
  • Killer Vacation
  • Constantine 2
  • Mortal Kombat 2
  • Bullitt
  • Portal
  • Wizard of Oz
  • I Am Legend 2
  • Hot Wheels
  • Coyote vs Acme
  • Black Hawk
  • Disaster Wedding

So… yeah, a lot to process there. A live-action adaptation of video game Portal is in the works? Apparently a remake of the Wizard of Oz? A sequel to I Am Legend, likely without Will Smith? A remake of hit Asian zombie horror Train to Busan! Captain Planet being Leo DiCaprio’s first comic book movie!

But the two that really caught our attention are the remakes of The Bodyguard and of Under Siege. Not much is known about either project yet, aside from the former being written by Matthew Lopez (who has a very impressive CV for stage plays, but not much for the screen) and the latter being directed by Timo Tjahjanto (who delivered the incredible Safe Haven section of VHS-2, and super-violent action-thriller The Night Comes For You).
