WATCH: American trailer for new Irish drama series Kin is epic and action-packed

Rory Cashin

It will be broadcast in the US on the same channel that brought us Breaking Bad and Mad Men.

Last week, RTÉ gave us our first look at its new dark drama series Kin, which is due to arrive on Irish TVs this Autumn.

That short clip presented to us a tense conversation between Aidan Gillen (Love/Hate) and Ciaran Hinds (Game of Thrones), apparently both the patriarchs of their respective crime families.

We haven’t had much more to go on since then, until this week when American TV station AMC – home to big-hitters like Breaking Bad and Mad Men – debuted its trailer for the show, revealing a much more action-packed and epic story.

It does indeed look like Gillen and Hinds are about to go into a turf war for criminal activity in Dublin, with a hugely impressive cast including Clare Dunne (Herself), Charlie Cox (Daredevil), Emmett Scanlan (Peaky Blinders), Maria Doyle Kennedy (Outlander) and Sam Keeley (The Cured) playing family members caught on either side of the battle lines.

Locals of Dublin will spot many familiar landmarks – including one very popular city centre bar – in the middle of all of the gripping head-to-heads, shoot-outs and explosions.

Kin is scheduled to arrive in the United States for subscribers of AMC+ on Thursday, 9 September, while there has yet to be a confirmed airing date for the show here in Ireland.
