WATCH: This First Dates Ireland moment is the most unintentionally brilliant ice-breaker you’ll ever see

First Dates Ireland

First impressions don’t come much funnier than this.

Everybody gets a little bit nervous before a first date. So much so, that you might plan out a few conversation topics to avoid any sort of awkward silences.

This was not going to be an issue for Paul and Sarah.

Paul, a 29-year-old primary school teacher, was regaling Sarah, a veterinary nurse from Galway, with a story about how he used to work around the quays.

It was at this point that his thick Kilkenny accent came out to play, and he pronounced the word ‘quays’ in a way that Sarah had absolutely never heard before.

Watch it for yourself here:

Sarah was in absolute stitches, to the point that the barman had to interfere, and remind Paul that he was being laughed at. Talk about rubbing it in.

First Dates Ireland is on RTÉ 2 on Tuesday night (27 March) at 9:30pm.
