Dublin’s Aidan Turner scooped up the prestigious TV Actor of the Year Award at the GQ Awards in London’s Tate Modern on Tuesday night.
The 33-year-old actor from Clondalkin won the award for his representation of the titular Captain Ross Poldark from the BBC One drama Poldark.
The award was presented by twice-winner Jimmy Nesbitt, who half-jokingly described it as the ‘most prestigious award of the night.’
Nesbitt also took a few moments to make the crowd laugh, describing himself as ‘the drinking woman’s George Clooney.’
Upon receiving the award from his The Hobbit co-star, Turner said “Wow, this is really cool. This is a real honour. It’s a huge honour to share this room with all these wonderful people and all this talent, and it’s a really special night for me to pick up this award.”
