WATCH: Modern Family’s Ed O’Neill tells a cracking story about the Healy Raes and spending time in Kerry

Conor Heneghan

Ed O'Neill

The accent is pretty impressive to be fair.

Some will always recognise him as Al Bundy from Married with Children, but in more recent times, TV viewers have come to associate Ed O’Neill with the role of Jay Prithett in the brilliant Modern Family.

O’Neill was in attendance at Leonardo DiCaprio’s Global Green Party in Los Angeles on Wednesday night and while there, he took some time out to speak to Stephen Byrne of 2FM about a range of topics, including an anecdote about his time in Kerry a few years ago.

It’s no surprise with a name like O’Neill that he has strong Irish roots and he was able to put on a very impressive accent when describing his experiences of the late Jackie Healy-Rae during a visit to his hometown of Kilgarvan.

O’Neill also revealed that the next season of Modern Family could be his last and that his dream, when he retires, is to move to Skibbereen in Cork.

You can catch the interview in full on the 2FM website here.
