If you know PTA’s work, then you know why we’re excited about this.

Boogie Nights. Magnola. Punch-Drunk Love. There Will Be Blood. The Master. Inherent Vice. Phantom Thread.

Eight Oscar nominations.

Yep, director Paul Thomas Anderson is nothing short of a genius, so anything he puts his hand to, we’re automatically going to be very excited about, which is why when Netflix dropped the surprise teaser for Anima on Thursday afternoon, well… excitement levels sky-rocketed.

Especially since it a project that he has been working on with Thom Yorke, who have previously worked together on the music video’s for several incredible Radiohead music videos.

As for this new project, the short synopsis by Netflix doesn’t give a huge amount away:

“In a short musical film directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, Thom Yorke of Radiohead scores and stars in a mind-bending visual piece. Best played loud.”

Best played loud is just really good general life advice, to be fair.

It also mentions that the project will be previewed in some IMAX screens around the world, and while none of them are to be found in Ireland, if you happen to be near any of the following, then you’re in luck!

  • Hollywood Megaplex Hollywood Megaplex Plus City, Pasching, Austria

  • Cineworld Glasgow, Scotland
  • Cinestar Sony Centre, Berlin, Germany
  • Lusomundo Colombo IMAX, Lisbon, Portugal
  • Cinema City CC Warszawa, Polan
  • Cinema Park Formula Kino Gallery IMAX, Moscow, Russia
