WATCH: This new film shows why Ireland is one of the best surfing destinations on the planet

Conor Heneghan

Lahinch

This looks like a must-watch for all surfers in Ireland and beyond.

With some of the best waves on Earth, it’s no surprise that Ireland has proved a popular choice with filmmakers making movies about surfing over the years.

Waveriders, for example, released in 2008, featured the famous ‘Aileens’ wave at the Cliffs of Moher, a behemoth that has been taken on by some of the world’s best-known surfers.

Next month sees the release of another Irish surfing movie titled Between Land and Sea, which follows the lives of big wave surfers living in Lahinch in Clare over the course of a year.

Directed by Ross Whitaker, the man behind documentaries such as Unbreakable and When Ali Came to Ireland, it looks spectacular in the trailer below and will be screened at a number of venues throughout Ireland in March, including Dublin, Waterford, Cork, Ennis and Galway.
