Oh, this is awkward.
First dates are always a little bit awkward, at least initially as you have that feeling out period where establish whether or not your date suits your personality… or it they’re a weirdo.
You’ve probably seen or heard about Thursday night’s most popular TV show, First Dates Ireland, and there’s been some very memorable moments in the series so far.
Thursday night’s show looks set to have another one of these moments as one of the most embarrassing things that can happen on a first date comes to pass on national television… his bank card gets declined.
It’s one of the things you’d hate to happen to you on a first dates, never mind in front of everyone you know watching at home.
While we know in our hearts that this is simply a small issue and could be down to a multitude of reasons including a dodgy machine and a damaged card. But when you’re there in that moment, and it happens, it must be absolutely mortifying.
Thankfully, the man had another card on hand to take care of the bill, but as he said himself afterwards: “That was the longest five seconds of my life.”
We can only imagine what our reaction would be in that situation…
