“Something’s gone wrong.” – Westworld teases the terror to come in Season 2

"Is there anybody out there?"

Rory Cashin

“All is well.” Not as far as we can tell it isn’t…

If you haven’t watched the first season of Westworld yet, then go remedy that right now, because it is brilliant and will mostly likely be replacing the Game Of Thrones void in our lives once that finishes at the eighth season.

Assuming you have seen the first season (or haven’t and don’t care about spoilers), then let us continue…

The “official” Westworld website – official in that it is for the fictional theme park, not the TV show – got an update over the weekend, in the lead up to what many are expecting to be a big reveal at the San Diego Comic Con, which runs from 19 to 23 July.

The homepage (which you actually can’t access outside of the US, but don’t worry, we’ve got you covered), tells us that we should be expecting to “Live Without Limits”, teasing that the park as we know it will be getting a bit of an update thanks to a new narrative, before an unknown user hacks the site and calls for help…

WWS2

The unknown user asks “Is there anybody out there?”, before informing us that “Something’s gone wrong. We need help, can you hear th-” before being abruptly cut off.

A quick system override later, including the loading of Journey Into Night, which we’ve been informed is both the name of the first episode of Season Two, as well as the name of the new narrative that Anthony Hopkins’ kicked off with such gusto in the final episode of Season One.

From there, a registered user takes over, telling us that “All is well.” and that “Celebrations continue…”

What to take from all of that? Who is the Unknown User? Who is the “We” they are referring to? Who is the Registered User? And what are they celebrating?

Lots of questions, but kudos to the people behind the show for getting so many questions running through fans’ heads based off just one little GIF.

Season Two won’t be hitting TV screens until sometime in 2018, but expect lots of new info when the stars and creators hit the SDCC later this month.
