Who ya gonna cast? Bill Murray reveals the four actresses he thinks should star in the all-female Ghostbusters

If Peter Venkman says so then who are we to disapprove...

If Peter Venkman says so then who are we to disapprove…

Everyone be honest, nobody was expecting the news that there may be an all-female Ghostbusters, but here at JOE HQ we’re really starting to get on board with the idea, especially if they manage to get the casting absolutely right.

The 1984 original is an absolute classic because a large part of its appeal, aside from the cool effects and a rampaging 112ft tall marshmallow man, was the dynamic between Egon, Ray, Venkman and Winston.

Speaking at the Toronto Film Festival, Dr. Peter Venkman AKA the legendary Bill Murray, revealed his four choices to strap on the famous proton packs.

So, who you gonna call?

It seems that Melissa McCarthy (his co-star in the upcoming comedy drama St Vincent), Emma Stone (his previous co-star in Zombieland), Kristen Wiig and Linda Cardellini (who have both worked with director Paul Feig) are the lovely ladies set to drive Ecto-1.

We’re fairly certain that these women may be the front-runners that the studio/director have in mind, especially since Cardellini is a relative unknown which leads us to believe that Murray may have some insider knowledge. JOE absolutely loves Emma Stone, but we still hold out hope that Murray and the original cast can also make an appearance.

Murray probably won’t reprise his role as Venkman, but we would love to see him re-appear as a ghost just like Slimer.

An all-female cast means that this particular one-liner may not work but, on the other hand, we are optimistic that these four fantastic ladies can make any planned reboot work.
