Will Ferrell and Paul Rudd to reunite for new TV series

The duo are reuniting for a brand new dark comedy television series.

Will Ferrell and Paul Rudd are reuniting for the first time since Anchorman 2 in the new dark comedy The Shrink Next Door.

Inspired by true events documented in the popular podcast of the same name, The Shrink Next Door is a dark comedy following the bizarre relationship between psychiatrist to the stars Dr. Isaac “Ike” Herschkopf (Rudd) and his longtime patient Martin “Marty” Markowitz (Ferrell).

Over the course of their relationship, Ike slowly takes over Marty’s life, even moving into Marty’s home and taking over his family business.

According to Variety, the series explores how a “seemingly normal doctor-patient dynamic morphs into an unprecedentedly exploitative relationship filled with manipulation, power grabs, and dysfunction”.

Sounds to us like it’s going to be a hit. And you know what they say about the Rudd and Ferrell collaboration? 60% of the time, it works everytime.

The eight-episode series will arrive on streaming service Apple TV Plus, although no release date has yet been announced.

The Big Sick director Michael Showalter is on board as a director, with Succession and Veep writer Georgia Pritchett also a part of the team.
