The Young Offenders are trying to get Cillian Murphy to appear in the show

The Young Offenders Murphy

This would be the perfect Christmas present.

If you had to get Conor and Jock the perfect Christmas present, what would you buy them?

A bike? Na, they’d only want to steal their own one. Some smokes? That could work. A few pizzas? Well, Billy Murphy sorted the guys out with those after he hijacked that bus during the Season 1 finale.

Ok, while we’re thinking of the perfect Christmas present to get the lads, The Young Offenders are actually working on getting a dream gift for fans of the show, a cameo from Cillian Murphy.

In a recent interview with JOE, Alex Murphy (Conor) and Chris Walley (Jock) have confirmed that they’re trying to get the star of Inception and Dunkirk involved in the show.

As mentioned previously, the Peaky Blinders star is a massive fan of The Young Offenders and he even spent some time hanging out with Walley and Murphy in Cork.

Before the first season of The Young Offenders aired, the lads told JOE that they’d absolutely love to see their fellow Corkonian appear in the show and the 28 Days Later star responded to this request by saying that “it would have to be a good part, mind. I’ve met those lads (Walley and Murphy) and they’re brilliant lads and brilliant actors. I love the series.”

Well, with The Young Offenders Christmas Special set to air on RTÉ at 22:35 on Christmas Day, JOE had another chance to sit down with Alex Murphy and Chris Walley. Naturally, we had to ask them about the potential of a Cillian Murphy cameo.

It appears that Walley and Murphy have been in touch with the writer/director of The Young Offenders, Peter Foott, in an effort to get the ball rolling about the “good part” that Tommy Shelby-himself wants.

“Yes. We have been onto Peter” said Walley while Alex Murphy added that: “Hopefully, we’ll have something for him. We’ll see! I hope so, that would be great.”

The idea of Cillian Murphy appearing in The Young Offenders sounds like the perfect Christmas present to us, but if you’re missing Conor and Jock, you’ll be very happy to know that The Young Offenders Christmas Special airs at 22:35 on Christmas Day, RTÉ One.

Here’s JOE’s chat with Alex Murphy and Chris Walley in full.
