Liam Gallagher is making his way back to Ireland next year as the iconic former Oasis front-man announced two Dublin dates for his upcoming ‘Definitely, Maybe’ 30th anniversary tour.

After leaving Oasis in 2009, Gallagher went on to front the band Beady Eye for five years. In 2017 he went solo and has since released three studio albums under his own name, all to high degrees of success.

Despite a successful career after leaving the iconic rock band, Gallagher is of course best known for his time fronting the band alongside his brother and enemy Noel, and it’s reflected in his setlist.

Liam Gallagher’s top 5 most played live songs

Since going solo, Gallagher has played three live tours for his albums ‘As You Were’ (2017), ‘Why Me, Why Not?’ (2019) and ‘C’mon You Know’ (2022), but his most played songs are predominately made up of Oasis tunes.

1. Wall of Glass

Gallagher’s debut solo single remains his most played and for good reason. Released in 2017, this absolute banger firmly cemented the singer as a solo artist with more to give than just Oasis rehashes.

Written alongside Miike Snow front-man Andrew Wyatt and multiple Grammy award-winner Greg Kurstin, the song kicks off ‘As You Were’ and has been played by the singer 234 times.

2. Rock ‘n’ Roll Star

Apart from ‘Wall of Glass’ every other song on the top 5 most played by Liam Gallagher are all Oasis tunes.

While ‘Wall of Glass’ was Gallagher’s debut single, his second most played is the iconic debut from Oasis. Released in 1994, ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Star’ is as prophetic as a song title can be, especially for the band’s first single. It’s been played by Gallagher 226 times.

3. Morning Glory

A “cynical song about drugs”, Noel Gallagher wrote Morning Glory amidst the mid-90’s Britpop boom and no song suits it better than this single off the band’s second album ‘What’s the Story, Morning Glory?’

Liam’s played the tune 209 times.

4. Wonderwall

Not much more to be said about this one. In October 2020, it became the first song from the 1990s to reach one billion streams on Spotify and it’s been played live by Liam Gallagher 181 times.

5. Cigarettes & Alcohol

Following behind at number 5 on the list is another iconic hit from Oasis’ debut album. ‘Cigarettes & Alcohol’ perfectly captures the use of substances to liven up the mediocrity of life, similarly to the equally cynical ‘Morning Glory’ further up the list.

Liam Gallagher’s least played song throughout his solo career

Fans of Gallagher will be well-versed with his most-played live songs throughout his recent solo career, but they might be hard pressed to figure out the tunes that are played least.

Among his very rarely played hits is a well-known Oasis classic that he’s only played once in his solo career: ‘Don’t Look Back in Anger’.

For his show at Glastonbury in 2017, Liam surprised the audience with a rendition of the famously Noel-fronted hit, the one and only time he has performed it solo.

In an emotional a capella version of the 1995 hit, Gallagher dedicated it to the victims of both the Manchester and London terror attacks and the victims of the Grenfell Tower fire.

Liam told BBC’s Jo Whiley after the performance: “I’ve never done that before. That’s kind of like [everyone’s] song for the moment because of all the shit that’s going down in the world so I thought, ‘If our kid’s [Noel] not going to do it for them then I’ll do it for them.’ And I thought I did alright actually.”
