Gardai to police outdoor drinking at Skerries Harbour

Dublin seaside town Skerries has been in focus over the summer after a number of reports of anti-social behaviour in recent weeks.

JOE understands that local business owners have been informed of a renewed Garda presence at the beauty spot as the good weather continues.

A Garda spokeperson told JOE that while they do not comment on correspondence with third parties: "Local Gardaí remain committed to ongoing engagement with those operating licensed premises in Skerries.

"This includes regular inspections and guidance to ensure full compliance with all relevant liquor licensing legislation. Furthermore, the local Gardaí work proactively with local communities and business owners as part of broader policing plans to promote a safe and welcoming environment for all members of the public."

It's understood drinking along the public areas are to be enforced more closely.

Earlier this month, a man in his twenties was arrested after a car was driven at a number of people during an incident in the town.

Three teenagers, two girls and a boy, were taken to Beaumont Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Another male was also reported to have received non-life-threatening injuries.

Gardaí said they responded to reports of a public order incident at Harbour Road.
