The weekend weather forecast isn’t perfect, but it will do

We’ve grown accustomed to a different kind of forecast over the last few months…

That’s right. Ireland has been going through a heatwave for as long as we can remember at this point, but this weekend is certainly not going to match some of the highs we’ve experienced so far this summer.

First of all, Friday evening will be wet, with Met Éireann forecasting “further heavy showers overnight tonight, heaviest in the east and north later in the night.”

Saturday will not be as hot as we’ve come to expect our weekends to be — but that might be no bad thing: “Feeling cooler in the fresh, occasionally strong southwest winds with temperatures of just 15 to 18 degrees.” Almost sounds refreshing.

Sunday will be a bit of a mixed bag too — “sunshine and scattered showers through the day, with most frequent showers occurring in the northwest of the country. Highest temperatures of 19 to 21 degrees with moderate west to southwest winds” — though we should really make note of how strange it is to be calling 21 degrees a “mixed bag.” Up until recently, one day of 21 degrees was our whole summer.

A weather warning remains in effect over soil moisture deficits in Munster and Leinster.
