Forecaster Alan O'Reilly of the Carlow Weather account said the country will "catch the edge of some very warm air", sending the mercury soaring across much of the country from the middle of next week.

According to the Irish Mirror, the warm spell is expected to build from Tuesday and last until at least Thursday, with Wednesday tipped as the hottest day at 28C.

The Irish Independent similarly reported highs of 25C with the warm weather set to continue, and Met Éireann figures show just how dry the recent stretch has been.

July 2026 was the second hottest July since 1900, the driest July on record and one of the sunniest months ever recorded in Ireland, with an average of just 16mm of rain falling across the month, around 17 per cent of the long-term average.

"Ireland is set to catch the edge of some very warm air next week," O'Reilly told followers of his widely-followed Carlow Weather account.

The renewed heat follows last month's heatwave, and forecasters will be watching closely to see whether the warm air holds into the following weekend.
