Ireland weather: A 22C swing and thunderstorms on the way

Daytime highs are set to keep reaching the mid-20s, a swing of roughly 22 degrees, the Irish Mirror reported.

Met Éireann’s Monday forecast has mist and fog clearing quickly to leave a dry morning with sunny spells, turning hazy at times, before cloud builds in the southwest and west during the afternoon and evening with scattered light showers.

Highs of 18 to 22 or 23 degrees are expected in light to moderate east or southeast winds, and it will not fall below 10 to 15 degrees overnight.

“Dry tonight in the north and east with clear spells,” Met Éireann said. “Cloudier with occasional showers in the south and west.”

Tuesday will be rather cloudy with limited sunny spells, dry for many in the morning before showery outbreaks of rain push in from the south by mid-afternoon, with highs of 18C to 23C.

Thunderstorms are possible on both Wednesday and Thursday, though it will still feel warm, with temperatures cracking 20C in many parts and holding into Friday.

Low pressure is set to dominate with above-average rainfall for the time of year, particularly in the south and east, according to the Irish Independent.

Next weekend is less certain, with further rain or showers likely and temperatures unlikely to reach 20C, a familiar pattern after the August bank holiday forecast and Met Éireann’s unsettled August outlook.
