Trump has recently demanded to meet the whistleblower.

Lawyers on behalf of the whistleblower who has leaked information regarding Donald Trump have said that they have fears regarding their client’s safety.

In a letter obtained by CNN, the lawyers in question have said that they have concerns that their client will be put in harm’s way if their anonymity is revealed.

“The events of the past week have heightened our concerns that our client’s identity will be disclosed publicly and that, as a result, our client will be put in harm’s way”, the letter reads.

This comes following a series of tweets by Donald Trump, which read: “Like every American, I deserve to meet my accuser, especially when this accuser, the so-called “Whistleblower,” represented a perfect conversation with a foreign leader in a totally inaccurate and fraudulent way.”

He continued: “In addition, I want to meet not only my accuser, who presented SECOND & THIRD HAND INFORMATION, but also the person who illegally gave this information, which was largely incorrect, to the “Whistleblower.” Was this person SPYING on the U.S. President? Big Consequences!”

The whistleblower’s report suggests that Trump officials, including his own personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani, met with representatives for the Ukrainian government to discuss the potential for an investigation of Joe Biden, one of Donald Trump’s political rivals.

On Sunday night, Robert De Niro launched a powerful attack on Trump on television, saying that “This guy should not be president, period”.
