Met Éireann have issued a high temperature warning for Ireland

This good weather is showing no signs of stopping.

For the third time this week, Met Éireann has issued a status yellow warning for Ireland with regards to the high temperatures. Maximum temperatures of 28 to 30 degrees celsius will occur widely today and will be in excess of 30 degrees celsius in places.  Temperatures in excess of 27 degrees celsius are expected on Saturday mainly in Connacht, Munster and parts south Leinster.

The warning was originally issued on Monday 25 June at 06:00 but it has now been updated.

The warning is valid from 10:00 today and it will last until Saturday 30 June at 22:00 With regards to today's specific weather forecast, they state that it's going to be "Hot and sunny with afternoon temperatures, similar to yesterday, ranging from 27 to 30 degrees Celsius generally, but up to 32 degrees Celsius locally in parts of the mid-west and west, slightly lower along the coasts due to sea breezes." Tonight will be "dry, close and clear with lowest temperatures of 13 to 17 degrees Celsius. Some shallow fog patches around dawn." In terms of the recent glorious conditions, Shannon Airport was the hottest location in the country as it recorded Ireland's hottest day since 1976. Malin Head was the coolest place in the country on Thursday at 20 degrees. Elsewhere, Irish Water have issued their guidelines on conserving the water supply as Ireland's east coast suffers something of a drought. They include:

• Have a shower instead of a bath, like anyone takes baths anymore
• Spend less time in the shower, which you should have instead of a bath, but nobody takes baths anymore anyway
• Remember to turn off the tap when you're brushing your teeth
• For the truly conscientious, consider adding a toilet cistern bag to your cistern to reduce the amount of water used in a flush
• Make sure your dishwasher and washing machines are fully loaded
• Use a basin in the sink
• Keep a jug of water in the fridge
• Make sure you use the correct pot or pan size if you're cooking food.

Of course, if you're out in the sun please take the necessary measures to avoid sunburn and dehydration too. Motorists are also being urged to bring plenty of water for a long drive and to avoid leaving animals/small children in their car for too long. More importantly, given the fact that heat has caused some roads to deteriorate, all drivers should be careful of surfaces becoming slick and dangerous, particularly on minor roads.
