Heavy snow on its way to Ireland? Met Éireann has its doubts

No snow on the horizon just yet.

Reports that Ireland could be line for some heavy snowfall in the near future appear to be somewhat premature, according to Met Éireann.

On Monday, on the back of forecasts of a ‘Scandinavian High’ from reputable local weather outlets such as Carlow Weather and Midlands Weather Channel, it was reported that Ireland could be in store for quite a bit of snow in the near future.

Naturally enough, reports of incoming snow was the cause of excitement for many, but if you’re one of those grinches who absolutely despises snow, we’ve got some good news for you.

Met Éireann has claimed that there is very little chance of us getting snow, at least any time soon.

Speaking to JOE on Monday, a spokesperson for the national meteorological service said that we should expect nothing but a spell of dry and benign weather, with absolutely no indication of any snow on the horizon just yet.

The spokesperson also said that the weather for the next week will be relatively mild for this time of year, and that it is expected to gradually cool down afterwards.

As far as this coming week is concerned, Met Éireann is predicting plenty of wind and rain, with occasional spot flooding in places, with temperatures reaching as high as 15 degrees at times.
