The New York Police Department has confirmed that they are responding to an “explosion of unknown origin” in Manhattan.
According to the tweet, an explosion has been reported at 42nd Street and 8th Avenue, near Times Square in New York City.
The tweet added the caveat that the information available is preliminary, but that the A, C, and E subway lines have all been evacuated.
Footage from the scene show multiple emergency services units arriving to the Port Authority Bus Terminal, near Times Square. NYPD officers are clearing the terminal of people.

So far, it is not clear what caused the explosion — nor whether anyone has been injured or killed.
