Two men arrested in Gardaí probe into bogus tradesmen

Stephen Porzio

They are due to appear in court today.

Gardaí have arrested two men, both aged in their 20s, as part of an investigation into bogus tradesmen in Clondalkin in Dublin.

This came after Gardaí received reports that a man, aged in his 80s, was contacted by two men informing him that he needed substantial work to be carried out on his property.

The man in his 80s handed over a substantial sum of cash to complete the work, but this work was never undertaken.

After a probe was launched, the men in their 20s were arrested on Tuesday and were detained at Clondalkin Garda station under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Both have since been charged and are due to appear before Wednesday morning’s sitting of Blanchardstown District Court.
