Dunphy must be smiling.

With Ireland about to enter the defining final stages of qualification for Euro 2016, Martin O’Neill must be hoping that all of his players find their best form with testing fixtures against Poland and Germany on the horizon.

Norwich City playmaker Wes Hoolahan is certainly a player that has started the season with a bang and although O’Neill doesn’t seem to favour the former Shelbourne man in matches against the so called ‘bigger’ countries, there’s no doubting that he’s one of the few players in our side that has the creativity, intelligence and technique to unlock teams.

In my opinion, O’Neill made a massive mistake by taking him off in the 1-1 draw with Scotland at the Aviva because his game is perfectly suited to international football.

Ireland’s manager might need to be convinced a little bit more of his undoubted qualities but I’m certain that Norwich City manager Alex Neil is absolutely delighted with Hoolahan’s form, especially when you look at this impressive stat
