Would you wear a jacket that gives you a hug every time you get a Facebook like?

Winter is coming but we think it would have to get pretty cold before we would wear one of these around town.

Facebook is great. Hugs are great. Jackets are, you guessed it, great. But combining all three is probably a really bad idea. That hasn’t stopped scientists at MIT developing this baby, though.

According to a piece on Mashable, this jacket was designed by Melissa Chow and it’s called ‘Like-a-Hug’. It is connected to your Facebook page and everytime that somebody likes something on your page, the jacket inflates to give you a hug.

Then, if you want to give the hug back, you just check your phone, see who sent the hug and you can hug yourself, which will inflate their jacket in return.

The video above shows how it works. We realise this is more of an art project than an actual real item that will go on sale but we can’t see this catching on. Can you?
