We probably underestimated Irish people’s love for one of the tastiest meals around – after we put up a simple Facebook post asking readers to name the best fish and chip shops in Ireland, we were left reeling with the extent of the response.

Just for the halibut, we trawled through said comments in an effort to find the most popular plaices in Ireland for diners to get fish and chips and stick them down their trout.

The same names kept popping up over and over again so let’s not carp on any longer; here’s the top ten.
