Introducing Apella.
As any students of ancient civilisation (handiest Arts degree selection going) will know, the Apella was the popular deliberative assembly in the Ancient Greek city-state of Sparta.
This Apella are a popular music assembly fronted by yer man off the radio, Dara Quilty of 98fm.
Dara used to be in a band called Fox Avenue but his new two-piece outfit has a much punchier sound than its predecessor.
Joining him on stick duty is Ronan Nolan, previously seen backing up Bressie during his solo music adventures.
‘We Met At A Party’ is exactly the kind of unashamedly hooky pop song that you seldom hear Irish artists produce.
Pop is often seen as a dirty word, but to produce something this memorable and instantly catchy in 153 seconds is mad skillz.
It’s already been heard around the globe when it featured on a road biking viral video monster (3 minutes in) and expect to hear it lots on Irish radio stations over the coming months.
