A great achievement for the band…
Irish band Hothouse Flowers have soundtracked the opening scene for Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond’s new show, the Grand Tour.
The long wait by motoring fans for the new show featuring the former Top Gear trio is finally at an end as the show became available on Amazon Prime last night.
It reportedly costs €6 million per episode to make and the opening scene of the show, which was filmed in the Mojave Desert, cost a whopping €3 million to make and is soundtracked by Hothouse Flowers.
Unfortunately the band did not receive €3 million for the use of their music, a cover of ‘I Can See Clearly Now’, in the opening scene, but they were over the moon to be featured on such a high profile show with Fiachna Ó Braonáin expressing his delight to Ray D’Arcy on RTÉ Radio One.
You may be wondering why you haven’t heard about this until now; the band were forced to sign a confidentiality clause so as to not give away any secrets of the filming.
Fiachna explained how Jeremy Clarkson has been a fan of the band for many years and it was his idea to use Hothouse Flowers in what has been described as one of best opening sequences of a TV show ever.
