BBC’s gorgeous Blue Planet II is coming to Ireland live in concert

Carl Kinsella

Blue Planet II

This will be incredible.

Last year, the world was blown away by David Attenborough’s incredible second season of Blue Planet — which featured glorious footage of the lives of many spectacular underwater  animals.

Now, the show is coming to Ireland — complete with live orchestral accompaniment, with music composed by legendary composer Hans Zimmer.

Hans Zimmer says of composing the music for Blue Planet II – “The idea is to depict the abundance of life as well as the movements and vibrations of the ocean. By using the orchestra in an unconventional way, we wanted to create ‘living’ chords that ebb and flow throughout the series”.

The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, along with conductor Matthew Freeman, have been announced to provide the live accompaniment to the stunning visuals.

Two Ireland dates have been announced as part of the tour, at the SSE Arena in Belfast (23 March, 2019) and the 3Arena (24 March, 2019).

Tickets are on sale now from Ticketmaster, from €44.
