No other Irish artists are included on the playlist.

Hozier’s hit single ‘Take Me to Church’ is the only Irish song on Spotify’s new “Billions Club” playlist.

The playlist – which currently features over 150 songs – was launched by the music streaming service to highlight which songs have surpassed one billion listens on the platform.

‘Take Me to Church’ features on the playlist alongside both new and old hits including Ed Sheeran’s ‘The Shape of You’, The Killers’ ‘Mr. Brightside’, Oasis’ ‘Wonderwall’, Queen’s ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ and Mark Ronson’s ‘Uptown Funk’.

The Hozier track was Spotify’s most-streamed song of 2014.  Aside from Hozier, no other Irish artists are included on the playlist.

In a statement to Billboard, Global Head of Creative Artist Partnerships at the music streaming service Ashley Graver said: “Spotify has long celebrated artist milestones and we wanted to find a unique way to honor the artists and songs fans can’t stop listening to.

“The Billions Club playlist is a natural evolution of the plaques you have seen from multiple artists, and we are excited to give fans a one-stop destination to enjoy some of the most-streamed songs in the world.”
