Making your home more energy-efficient is not only the right choice to make for the planet, but it’s a smart investment in your future as a home that runs more efficiently can help save you a significant amount of money on your bills.
With this knowledge in mind, Allianz Insurance have just launched Rebuild Better, a brand new, first-of-its-kind insurance benefit that empowers and supports homeowners to build back more sustainably when repairing damage to their home.
With Rebuild Better, homeowners can invest in eco-friendly upgrades during the rebuilding process. This benefit offers all home insurance customers with buildings cover an additional €5,000 on claims of €50,000 or more to be used to make sustainable, energy-efficient changes to their home during the reconstruction process. These upgrades include heat pump installation, solar panels and attic and wall insulation.
The Rebuild Better insurance benefit follows recent data from Allianz Insurance which indicated that across household claims in 2022, water damage accounted for 41% of insurers’ total claims. This was followed by storm damage which accounted for 19% of claims, while fire damage accounted for 12% of claims.
Claims eligible for this insurance benefit include, but are not limited to, losses due to burst water pipes, fires, floods, storms and subsidence.
To avail of this benefit, customers will need to be approved by SEAI and have received their grant. A registered SEAI contractor will then execute the energy improvements.
