JOE’s CrossFit workout of the day brings you a perfect workout to add to your exercise routine

JOE does our best to stay in pretty good shape, and we’re always looking to try something new in the gym to see if we can up our game that little bit more.

With that in mind, and thanks to La Roche-Posay and our mates at CrossFit Navitas in Harold’s Cross, JOE brings you a CrossFit workout of the day for you to try.

Today’s session is perfect for adding on to the end of a strength or conditioning session to really push it for that last few minutes. It consists of 33 squats, 33 situps and 33 burpees, and as always, form will be key.

When it comes to squats, make sure on the way down that your knees don’t go out over your toes and that you keep the natural curvature of your spine, making sure not to hunch your shoulders. For situps, make sure that you engage your core and that you don’t put too much pressure on your lower back. Don’t raise too far forward and try not to touch the ground on the way back down so that you’re constantly engaging your stomach muscles.

When it comes to burpees, and there’s no easy way around this, they are hugely unpleasant. That’s what makes them so great though, as they say ‘no pain, no gain’. Again with these, there are a few key factors to remember, try no to let your form dip on the push up and keep your hips in line with your back, and explode as much as possible on the jump at the end to really get the full benefit.
