Research finds out exactly how many friends you need to be happy

Quality over quantity

I’ll be there for you.

“You can never have too many friends” is the old saying, but new research says that you actually don’t need that many, once you have a handful of close ones.

An evolutionary psychologist at the University of Oxford says that your closest 15 relationships, including family, seem to be most crucial when it comes to both mental and physical health.

Dr. Robin Dunbar added if you have between three and five “vital friendships” (people who you meet in person regularly), you’ll be in good shape.

Don’t feel bad if you know Mr. Popular who has 3,440 Facebook friends because it’s sort of pointless.

Dunbar explained that the brain can’t hold a close relationship with more that 150 people during a lifetime so they can’t all be great buddies.

Moral of the story: Life is like a box of chocolate If you have a handful of people who genuinely care about you, you’re doing well.
