The weekend is upon us!

What to do with your Friday?

Well, with the arrival of Storm Erik, it should probably involve staying indoors as much as possible.

We’d recommend either heading to the cinema (check out our reviews of all the new releases right here), or check out one of these from the comfort of your couch tonight.

FRIDAY 8 FEBRUARY

Skyfall – ITV2 – 8.00pm

The best of Daniel Craig’s Bond movies (unless you prefer the more rough and ready attitude of Casino Royale?), in which he takes on Javier Bardem’s evil genius. The stunts are spectacular, and the whole thing looks absolutely beautiful.

Lone Survivor – FilmFour – 9.00pm

Mark Wahlberg, Taylor Kitsch, Ben Foster and Emile Hirsch are Navy SEALs sent into Afghanisatan to take out a Taliban leader, only for it all to go to hell and they are forced to try to escape with their lives.

Kingpin – Universal TV – 10.20pm

Bill Murray and Woody Harrelson are competitive bowlers in this absolutely bonkers and hilarious comedy from the guys behind Dumb and Dumber and There’s Something About Mary.

Crimson Tide – ITV4 – 11.15pm

Gene Hackman is the captain of a submarine who believes he has recieved orders to attack Russia, but his second in command Denzel Washington is less sure, leading to an incredibly tense thriller in one of the most cinematically tense situations imaginable.

Blue Velvet – FilmFour – 11.20pm

David Lynch’s classic involving severed ears, lounge singers and Dennis Hopper’s sexually depraved psychopath. This is less of a movie and more a state of being; you just need to let it wash over you.

Sinister – Channel 4 – 12.35am

Ethan Hawke is a struggling writer who moves his family into the home that was previously the site of gruesome multiple murders. Guess what? It doesn’t go well.

Death Of A Superhero – RTE Two – 12.45am

The kid from Love, Actually plays a young boy who has been told he doesn’t have long to live, so he attempts to find joy in the comic books he draws, and attempts to find some peace with the help of his death therapist, played by Andy Serkis.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
