Father Ted Christmas special

“But eventually, I got out of his headlock and now, where are you, Father Eamon Hunter?”

Our estimates might be a little off, but even though the vast majority of the Irish population has seen the Father Ted Christmas special 17 million times, it’s always worth watching when it appears on TV at the festive season.

And, as luck would have it, More 4 happen to be showing it on Saturday night, giving viewers another opportunity to revisit arguably the most quotable Father Ted episode of them all one more time.

We hardly feel the need to elaborate on what makes an episode that includes the Golden Cleric speech, Ireland’s biggest lingerie section and Ruud Gullit sitting on a shed such a timeless classic, but if you need convincing, you can read a more detailed tribute to the episode here.

And while you’re at it, you might as well take our quiz on the episode right here.

If you can fight the urge not to head out at the height of party season, you can catch the Father Ted Christmas special on More 4 at 9pm.
