Here’s how much it would cost to rent the two famous apartments from Friends

Paul Moore

One of TV’s greatest mysteries has been solved.

We’re confident in saying that someĀ of you will know the interiors of the apartments from Friends better than your own homes. After all, who didn’t want to sit with Joey and Chandler when they spent an entire day watching TV on their barcaloungers?

We’ve also frequently wanted to drop into Monica’s spacious two-bedroom apartment in theĀ West Village for the same reason thatĀ Joey does, we also fancy raiding her fridge.

If you ever wondered what it would cost to live with the best neighbours imaginable then you won’t be surprised to learn that it’s pretty pricey.

On the show, the gang resided at 90 Bedford St. near Grove Street and the last apartment that was up for sale in the area, a one-bed and one-bathroom, went forĀ $2,950/month.

Granted that’s steep, but a similarly sized pad to Monica/Rachel’s apartment is even more expensive. A two-bedroom property soldĀ for $3,400.

The New York Post have crunched the numbers and discoveredĀ that givenĀ their various jobs, one of Rachel, Monica, Joey and Chandler, wouldĀ never have consistently beenĀ able to afford the rent that they were paying in the show.

These real life prices don’t even offer a fair reflection of the value of the “Friends”apartments though, Monica’sĀ terrace alone would see the price rise.

The Citi Habitatsā€™ March 2016 rental reportĀ has discovered thatĀ the West Villageā€™s average two-bedroom rent isĀ $4,030. With this in mind, it’s safe to say that it would cost overĀ $4,000/month for Monica and Rachelā€™s placeĀ and in the high $3,000s for Chandler and Joeyā€™s.

Here’s hoping that the apartments areĀ fully furnished and that you’re left with the five of spades.
