Huge news.
James Bond producers have formally offered the iconic spy role to a British actor, with the contract set to be signed this week, according to a source.
The question of who will be the next James Bond has swirled around the world of film ever since Daniel Craig fell on his sword in No Time To Die.
The likes of Henry Cavill, Idris Elba, Regé-Jean Page, Tom Holland and, most recently, Cillian Murphy have all been linked with the role.
Meanwhile, fans have been clamouring for Theo James to be given a license to kill following his performance in Guy Ritchie’s The Gentlemen.
But, according to new reports, the search is finally over for who the next Bond will be – and it’s none of the above.
Bond bosses are said to have “formally offered” the role to Aaron Taylor-Johnson after he impressed producers.
The ‘Kick-Ass’ actor has reportedly been chosen for the iconic role by Eon Productions, the company behind the films, and will accept it in the “coming days.”
A source told the Sun that this will be ahead of filming on the next film getting underway later this year.
They told the publication: “Bond is Aaron’s job, should he wish to accept it. The formal offer is on the table and they are waiting to hear back.
“As far as Eon is concerned, Aaron is going to sign his contract in the coming days and they can start preparing for the big announcement.”
Taylor-Johnson has long been considered one of the front-runners for the role and has previously been a bit cryptic when asked about rumours connecting him to Bond.
Back in August, he was asked by Esquire whether he had been in talks with producers about being the next James Bond.
In response, he said: “I just focus on the things I can have in my hands right now.
“What’s in front of me right now.”
Along with his role in ‘Kick-Ass’, Taylor-Johnson is also known for starring in films such as ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’, ‘Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging’, ‘Tenet’ and ‘Bullet Train.’
