The Departed
One of the best Irish mob movies of all time that included a stellar cast with Jack Nicholson on top form.
Goodfellas
The movie, which was based on the book Wiseguys, launched the careers of Ray Liotta and Lorraine Bracco.
Joe Pesci won an Oscar for best supporting actor for his brilliant portrayal of Tommy DeVito.
Scarface
“Say hello to my little friend” is one of the most iconic lines in the history of film and Scarface is right up there with the greats.
Al Pacino as Tony Montana and 80s Miami as a setting was perfection.
The Godfather
More Al Pacino here as he sets off on the path of taking over his father’s criminal empire.
A genuine Hollywood classic that everyone should watch at least once.
American Gangster
Denzel Washington plays a rags-to-riches heroin smuggler who becomes the biggest gangster in North Carolina.
Russell Crowe plays the detective who tries to take him down and a whole ring of corruption is unearthed, it’s a really good watch.
Casino
Robert De Niro and Martin Scorsese were reunited five years after Goodfellas and the combination worked a charm once again.
De Niro as the main man, Joe Pesci as the mafia enforcer and Sharon Stone as the troubled trophy wife were all outstanding. It’s such a quality flick.
Once Upon A Time In America
A story of friendship told over the course of 40 years that includes all the staple mob movie elements; crime, greed, lust, death and betrayal.
Robert De Niro is excellent in the lead role but James Woods was outstanding in a supporting role. Watch out for a great twist at the end.
The Untouchables
Robert De Niro versus Kevin Costner, Sean Connery, Andy Garcia and Charles Martin Smith in the mob movie about Al Capone’s stranglehold on Chicago during prohibition.
It was directed by Scarface and Carlito’s Way’s Brian De Palma.

The Godfather: Part II
One of the few examples of when a sequel eclipses an original as Francis Ford Coppolla managed to make another genuine Hollywood classic.
The movie was both a prequel and sequel to the first movie, with Robert De Niro delivering one of the great onscreen performances. It won six Oscars in 1974.
