Kit Connor In Talks To Play Cyclops In Marvel's X-Men Reboot

Kit Connor looks set to become the next big name to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Heartstopper star, whose hit series streams on Netflix in Ireland, is in talks to play Cyclops in Disney and Marvel's upcoming X-Men reboot, Variety reports.

What Kit Connor's casting means for the X-Men reboot

Cyclops, whose real name is Scott Summers, is one of the X-Men's most iconic leaders, channelling powerful optic beams of energy from his eyes. Should his deal close, Connor would appear alongside Samara Weaving, recently announced as the villain-turned-hero Emma Frost.

The reboot will be directed by Jake Schreier, who helmed last year's Thunderbolts, as Marvel rebuilds its mutant roster for a new era. The project is one of the most anticipated additions to the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe, following the record-breaking box-office run of this year's Spider-Man release.

Connor's deal has not yet closed, so nothing is official until pen hits paper. But the casting would mark a significant leap for the young British actor, best known to Irish audiences for the beloved Heartstopper. It would take him from a coming-of-age drama to the front line of Marvel's biggest franchise relaunch, and reunite the studio's mutant heroes on the big screen for the first time in years.
