Match of the Day to return to BBC this weekend

Match of the Day

For anyone who needs to fill their football cravings.

As you may have noticed last week, Match of the Day was not aired on BBC One at the usual time of 10.30pm, and instead an episode of Mrs. Brown’s Boys was shown.

This was due to the fact there was no live Premier League football due to the outbreak of coronavirus.

With the Premier League showing no sign of returning anytime soon (as it stands it is due to return on 30 April, but that is subject to change), football fans will not have to endure another without the beloved show.

It will return to BBC One this week, in a new visualised version of the new Match Of The Day podcast at 10.20pm on Saturday.

Gary Lineker, Ian Wright and Alan Shearer will all be on hand to discuss all things football, with this week’s episode being specifically about the Premier League’s greatest ever captains.

Earlier in the day, at noon, Dan Walker will showcase some of the best interviews and features from the season so far on Football Focus.

At 4pm, Guy Mowbray unearths some memorable games, including Watford vs Arsenal from 1987 and the 1978 match between West Bromwich Albion and Nottingham Forest, in the first part of his FA Cup quarter-final classics.

And if that’s still not enough football content for you, Season 2 of Netflix’s Sunderland ‘Til I Die is coming out on 1 April.
